Privacy Policy

TuckTime is a bedtime-story app made by Sofol Digital (“we”, “us”, “our”). It helps a parent create gentle, personalised stories and read them aloud to their child — recorded in the parent’s own voice so the child can replay them. TuckTime is built to Apple’s Kids Category standards.
The short version.
- The parent is our user; the child is someone we collect almost nothing about.
- Your child’s name never leaves the device — it’s never stored on our servers and never sent to anyone else.
- We use no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking. No ads, ever. We never sell your data.
- We collect a small amount of first-party, de-identified usage analytics to improve the app — with no child identity and no story or recording content.
- You can delete your data, including the copies on our servers, from inside the app, at any time.
Who this policy covers
This policy explains what we collect from the parent or guardian who sets up and uses TuckTime, and the limited, minimised information a parent provides about their child. A child never has an account, never signs in, and never enters information into TuckTime themselves. You must be 18 or older to create an account and use TuckTime with your own child.

We do not collect: child photos, child voice profiles, child accounts, your location, your contacts, or any advertising identifier (no IDFA). We use no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
How stories are generated
Stories are written in the cloud by an artificial-intelligence text provider (currently OpenAI). To do this we send only de-identified inputs — the age band, the theme, and gender — with no name and no account identifier. Your child’s real name never leaves your device; the model writes with a placeholder that your device fills in locally. These requests run under zero-retention, no-training provider settings, so your inputs are not kept by the provider or used to train its models. Every story passes an automated safety check before it is stored. Stories form a shared, pre-moderated, first-party library that is offered only as in-app recommendations — there is no public feed, browsing, or search of other families’ content.
On-device speech recognition
To highlight the words as you read, TuckTime listens through your device’s microphone and uses on-device speech recognition. The live transcript is matched to the story text and then discarded — it is never stored and never sent off your device.
Recordings
Recordings of you reading are kept on your device and stored securely and privately in your account (encrypted in transit and at rest). They are accessible only to you and to any co-parents you invite into your household. We are able to access stored files as the operator of the service to provide and support it, so we describe them as “stored securely and privately” rather than end-to-end encrypted. Recordings are included in your device’s iCloud backup (so a family doesn’t lose their keepsakes); how that backup is handled is governed by Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy. You can delete any recording at any time, and it is removed everywhere.
Usage analytics
To understand how families use TuckTime and to improve it, we collect first-party, de-identified usage analytics — for example which features are used, how often stories are created, read, and replayed, and where people drop off in sign-up or subscribing. These analytics are stored only in our own systems. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
- They are keyed to a random identifier for your household, not to your name or your child.
- We never include your child’s name, your child’s profile, the content of any story, or any recording or audio in analytics.
- Coarse, aggregate household information (such as how many children fall into each age band and how many parents share the account) is included to help us understand usage. Exact ages and birthdates are never collected.
- This is not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking you across other apps or websites.
- You can delete this data, along with the rest of your account data, at any time from within the app.
We also rely on Apple’s App Store Connect for aggregate crash and performance diagnostics. Apple provides these to us in aggregate; we use no separate crash-reporting SDK.
How we use information
- To provide TuckTime: create and read stories, record and replay them, sync highlighting, and share within your household.
- To keep your account secure and to enforce your subscription entitlement.
- To understand usage and improve the app (first-party analytics, as above).
- To respond to your support requests and to comply with our legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
Who we share information with
We don’t sell your data and we don’t share it with advertisers or data brokers. We use a small number of service providers to run TuckTime:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple (authentication) and the App Store (payments and subscriptions). Apple processes your sign-in and any purchase under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Supabase — our cloud hosting, database, authentication, and private file storage provider, which stores your account, profiles, stories, recordings, and analytics on our behalf.
- OpenAI — generates story text from de-identified inputs only, under zero-retention / no-training settings (see “How stories are generated”).
- Cloudflare — hosts this website (tucktime.app). It does not host your in-app account data.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the service.
International transfers
Our service providers may process and store data in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using TuckTime you understand your information may be processed in these locations to provide the service.
Children’s privacy
TuckTime is intended to be set up and operated by a parent or guardian for use with their child. Any information about a child is provided by the parent and is deliberately minimised: a first name (kept on the device), an age band, and gender. Consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the UK/EU Age-Appropriate Design rules, and the Australian Privacy Act, we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, children do not have accounts, and there are no behavioural ads or cross-app tracking. A parent can review and delete all of their child’s information at any time from within the app. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent’s involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention and deletion
- You can delete individual recordings, stories, and child profiles in the app — including the copies stored on our servers — immediately.
- You can delete your entire account from within the app. When the last member of a household deletes their account, the household’s children, recordings, related data, and stored files are purged, and your usage-analytics events are deleted.
- Partly-read stories are discarded and never saved; only a completed reading becomes a keepsake.
- We keep information only as long as needed to provide TuckTime or to meet legal obligations.
Security
We protect your data with access controls so that each family’s data is reachable only by that family, private storage with short-lived signed links for downloads, encryption in transit and at rest, and Sign in with Apple (so there are no passwords for us to protect). No system is perfectly secure, but we design TuckTime to minimise what is collected in the first place.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority (for example, the OAIC in Australia, your EU/UK supervisory authority, or under U.S. state privacy laws). Many of these you can exercise directly in the app (review and deletion). For anything else, contact us using the details below and we’ll help.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as TuckTime evolves. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continuing to use TuckTime after an update means you accept the revised policy.
